Lovely Birthday Collectibles

I have gotten some really special birthday collectibles over the years for my birthdays.  My uncle was a coin collector and he gave me several nice sets of coins that were minted during the year of my birth. 

I have saved them for over twenty years now.

My aunt Maureen liked to give me and my cousins Precious Moments figurines as birthday collectibles. 

She ended up giving me about five throughout my childhood.  My cousin Amy really liked the figurines so much that she started her own collection.

My mother told me that the most special of all of her birthday collectibles was the newspaper that her father bought for her the day she was born. 

She bought me and all of my siblings’ newspapers when we were born as well. 

I think that it was a wonderful tradition and I have continued it with my own kids.

One of my friend’s children has been receiving Boyd’s Bears as birthday collectibles every year and also at other gift-giving holidays. 

I was at their house last week and was marveling at some of the really nice workmanship that goes into those toys. 

I hope that she never outgrows loving bears

I had a friend when I was a child that loved music boxes.  Her dad traveled a lot and he found her a music box in every destination.  Her collection of birthday collectibles was like a treasure. 

A lot of the boxes had gems and shiny stones and they seemed like they were worth millions of dollars. 

At least that is what we used to pretend.
